Simply attach the Sawyer tap water filter to a standard faucet tap or to a hose bib spigot, turn on the water, and filter into your clean container.

The sawyer tap water filter can be used to filter up to 1893 litres of water a day to an incredibly clean 0.1-micron standard. The small lightweight tap water filter features a 0.1-micron absolute filter that removes 99.99999% of bacteria (salmonella, cholera, and E. coli), 99.9999% of protozoa (cryptosporidium and giardia), and 100% of microplastics — exceeding EPA recommendations for removal rates.

The Sawyer Tap Water Filter is a great choice for relief agencies or support groups traveling to areas where the water source is compromised or in question, or when you need ultra-pure particle and bacteria filtration. Will the Tap Filter make my water taste better?

It definitely can improve the taste of water by removing high levels of pathogens or particulates in the water; however, this filter was not designed with taste improvement as a top priority. The main priority of this system is to ensure that the water is safe to drink.

What is the shelf life of the Tap Filter?

If properly stored in a cool, dry location away from UV exposure, the Sawyer Tap Filter has a shelf life of 10+ years.

Will the Tap Filter fit my faucet?

Sawyer has designed these adapters to fit on most standard faucets domestically and internationally. Due to the wide variety of taps on the market, they cannot guarantee that this filter will fit on your specific model. If you are unsure if it will, please send Sawyer photos and measurements of your tap. They will happily explore making other size adapters based on the feedback they receive.

How long does the Tap Filter last in use?

Each Tap Filter is capable of filtering more than 1893 litres (500 gallons) of water per day. Proper use and maintenance of the filter will allow for this filter to be used for 10+ years.

What if the Tap Filter is exposed to freezing weather?

If the filter is brand new, there is no risk of freeze damage. However, once the filter has been used or is wet, the ice expansion process within the filter can stretch or damage the fibers to the point where pathogens could slip through. If you suspect your filter has been exposed to freezing conditions after use, we would recommend erring on the side of caution and replacing the system.

The included gauge does not fit my faucet, but the Tap Filter does. Is it safe to use?

Absolutely! If it is no additional trouble, please send Sawyer the specs on your tap so they can explore additional adapters as needed based on customer feedback. Just be sure to be mindful of the water pressure (<40 psi) to ensure that the fibers are not damaged.
