Hardcore Hammers Blackened Survivalist Hatchet Axe is tougher with FNC treated blade. The FNC (Ferritic Nitrocarburizing) treatment process uses heat, nitrogen and carbon to toughen up the surface of the 4140 steel head, improving its durability, appearance and corrosion resistance.

The Hardcore Survivalist Hatchet, 538g head on 457mm American Hickory Wood curved handle, includes custom made leather sheath. This is the culmination of all Hardcore Hammers have learned about the craft of tool making and they believe it’s the pinnacle of hatchet design. Made from top quality 4140 tool steel (AKA “4140 Ordnance Steel” because it is commonly used for making breech and barrel parts for guns and cannons) for both toughness and edge retention, and ground to within a +/-.005″ tolerance. Hardcore Hammers designed the curved blade for both optimal cutting and splitting wood. They’ve also incorporated a nail/tent stake puller and the hammer end (of course) has their patented recessed striking face.
