Compact Garden & Camping Hatchet

The Helko Werk Vario Universal Hatchet (145.0H070H001) is a compact, traditionally styled outdoor tool designed around a practical replaceable-handle and blade system. Combining a forged C50 carbon steel head with a Grade A American hickory handle, the Vario is suited to a range of lighter chopping and cutting tasks around the home, garden and campsite.

The hatchet's defining feature is its Vario fastening system, which allows the handle and blade assembly to be changed when required. The head, including the fastening system, weighs approximately 950g, while the complete hatchet weighs approximately 1,250g.

The forged 700g head has an increasing blade angle that allows the tool to perform both chopping and cutting tasks. Its specialised blade profile is designed for lighter timber work, making it suitable for tasks such as preparing firewood, trimming branches and general garden maintenance.

A slightly curved 450mm Grade A American hickory handle provides an ergonomic shape and helps transfer force efficiently through the head during use. The compact overall format also makes the Vario practical for camping, hiking and outdoor trips where space and pack weight need to be considered.

For storage and transport, the hatchet comes supplied with a premium cowhide leather blade sheath, protecting the cutting edge when the tool is not in use.
