Medium Splitting & Firewood Axe

The Helko Werk Vario Splitting Axe (145.0H150H001) is a substantial, purpose-designed tool for splitting firewood and processing timber. Combining a forged C50 carbon steel head, a long Grade A American hickory handle and Helko Werk's replaceable Vario fastening system, it is designed for demanding outdoor and property-based timber work.

At the heart of the axe is a 1,500g forged head featuring expanding wedges on both sides of the blade. This distinctive profile is designed to increase the splitting effect as the head enters the timber while helping reduce the tendency for the axe to become stuck in the wood. The result is a head configuration specifically suited to splitting rather than general-purpose chopping.

The 750mm slightly curved hickory handle provides leverage and helps transfer the force generated through the head. Made from Grade A American hickory, the handle offers the traditional combination of strength and resilience expected from a quality axe handle, while its ergonomic shape provides a comfortable working position during repeated splitting tasks.

The Vario fastening system allows the handle and blade assembly to be replaced when required, providing a practical approach to long-term tool maintenance. A steel handle guard protects the handle in the area beneath the axe head, helping reduce wear and extend the service life of the hickory.

The complete head assembly weighs approximately 2,200g, while the fully assembled axe weighs approximately 3,200g. This substantial weight, combined with the splitting-focused head profile and long handle, makes the Vario Splitting Axe particularly suited to firewood preparation and heavier timber-splitting work.

A premium cowhide leather blade sheath is supplied for protecting the cutting edge during storage and transport.
